BCCI Mourns British Broadcast Engineer Found Dead in Mumbai

British broadcast engineer Ian Williams Langford, working on IPL 2026 in Mumbai, was found dead on Monday after being discovered unconscious in his room at the Trident Hotel in South Mumbai.
Langford was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. Police registered a case of unnatural death. A postmortem examination returned nothing suspicious. Investigations are ongoing.
The IPL Governing Council moved quickly to issue a statement. “The IPL Governing Council and all stakeholders involved express their deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Mr. Ian Williams Langford, a dedicated broadcast engineer who was an integral part of our broadcast operations,” it read.
The board pledged full support to his family back in the United Kingdom. “The health, safety and overall security of every member involved in the smooth functioning of the IPL continue to remain of utmost importance,” it added.
Langford was a veteran of international broadcast operations. His death cast a shadow over the tournament on what was otherwise a match day.
