Bengaluru FC Appoints Ex-India Coach Savio Medeira to Lead Youth Development

Bengaluru FC have added one of Indian football’s most experienced minds to their structure, appointing former India head coach Savio Medeira as the club’s new Head of Youth Development.

Medeira’s credentials are hard to argue with. He led the Indian national team across multiple stints, served as AIFF Technical Director and Head of Coach Education, and has spent years building the infrastructure for youth football in this country. He knows what a pathway to senior football looks like.

The timing makes sense. Bengaluru FC hold a 5-star AIFF academy rating — the highest possible — but adding Medeira signals a more structured, long-term approach to converting that raw talent into first-team footballers.

Under head coach Pep Munoz, the senior side is rebuilding. Medeira’s job is to make sure there is a pipeline beneath it. Indian football has long struggled with that bridge between youth promise and professional readiness. Bengaluru are betting Medeira can close that gap.
