Chhattisgarh bids to host 2028 National Games

Chhattisgarh has formally expressed interest in hosting the 2028 National Games, with state authorities submitting a proposal to stage India’s premier multi-sport event. The bid was announced this week as the state looks to build on recent investments in sports infrastructure.
Officials said cities including Raipur are being assessed for venues, accommodation and transport capacity. “We are ready to host athletes from across the country,” a senior state official said, citing upgraded stadiums and training facilities. Another administrator added that hosting the Games would “boost grassroots sport and tourism.”
Chhattisgarh last hosted national-level events in selected disciplines and believes the 2028 Games would mark a major step forward. The final decision is expected after evaluations by national sports bodies.
