Cycling push draws 22 lakh riders at Attari-Wagah border show

More than 22 lakh people across India joined the 58th “Fit India Sundays on Cycle” event on Sunday, with hundreds pedalling at the Attari international border beside the iconic Attari-Wagah ceremony. The mass ride aimed to boost physical and mental fitness and unite citizens in a show of active living.
Union youth affairs and sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya called the turnout a true “jan andolan” or people’s movement, noting the event spread to over 2 lakh locations nationwide. “This has grown into a true mass movement,” he said.
Minister of state Raksha N Khadse rode alongside soldiers, athletes, celebrities and first-time voters, urging young people to stay fit and register to vote, calling voting a “fundamental right.” “We should strive to be as mentally and physically fit as our soldiers on the border,” she added.
The ride underscored national enthusiasm for health and fitness against the backdrop of one of India’s most watched border ceremonies.
