Dhoni tips India as T20 favourites, flags key concern

MS Dhoni has backed India as one of the favourites for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, while warning that inconsistency could derail their campaign. Speaking ahead of the tournament, the former captain praised India’s balance and depth but stressed execution under pressure will decide outcomes.
“On paper, India are one of the most dangerous teams,” Dhoni said. “They have power, skill and options for different conditions.” However, he pointed to lapses in key moments as a concern, adding, “In T20s, one bad over can change everything.”
India arrive with strong recent numbers across formats and a core used to big occasions. A former selector echoed Dhoni’s view, noting, “Talent isn’t the issue—decision-making at crunch time is.”
With the World Cup set across varied venues, Dhoni believes adaptability will be crucial. “Read conditions quickly and keep plans simple,” he advised, as India aim to convert promise into silverware.
