European T20 Premier League launches with stars and Bollywood

The European T20 Premier League was officially unveiled this week, promising a mix of elite cricket, celebrity ownership and global appeal as a new franchise tournament set to debut in Europe later this year. The league aims to expand cricket’s footprint across the continent through fast-paced T20 action and strong entertainment value.

Organisers confirmed that former and current international cricket stars will headline the competition, alongside a legendary figure from hockey, while several Bollywood personalities are set to be involved as team owners. “This league is designed to blend world-class cricket with entertainment and culture,” a league official told Times of India. “Europe is a growing market, and we want to tap into that potential.”

A former international cricketer associated with the project said the format would attract fans quickly, noting, “T20 cricket connects instantly with audiences, and this platform gives young European players a rare opportunity.” Another official added that the league’s vision is long-term, stressing, “Our focus is sustainability and creating a pathway for cricket in Europe.”
