Forty Indian-Origin Players Set to Feature at T20 World Cup

Around 40 players of Indian origin are set to feature at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, highlighting the growing impact of the Indian diaspora at the global tournament to be held in the USA and West Indies later this year. Representing nations such as the USA, Canada, UAE, Nepal and Oman, these players are chasing a long-held World Cup dream.

Several teams have relied on diaspora talent to strengthen squads through experience gained in Indian domestic cricket and overseas leagues. “This is a proud moment for players who grew up dreaming of big tournaments,” said a USA Cricket official, pointing to improved grassroots structures.

Former India cricketer Robin Singh noted that exposure and opportunity have bridged the gap. “Talent was always there; pathways are better now,” he said. The strong Indian-origin presence adds depth, diversity and fresh narratives to the World Cup.
