Gambhir Seeks Blessings Before India’s T20 Title Defence

India head coach Gautam Gambhir visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai on Tuesday, February 4, seeking blessings ahead of India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title defence. The visit came days before the team’s departure as preparations intensify for the global tournament.
Gambhir was seen offering prayers at the iconic shrine, a routine he has followed before major assignments. “Faith gives me calm and clarity,” Gambhir said. “The focus now is to prepare the team mentally and physically for the challenge ahead.”
A BCCI official noted the timing was deliberate. “It’s a big tournament and small rituals matter to many,” the official said. “The squad is focused and united.”
Former India batter Virender Sehwag added: “Gambhir understands pressure. His experience will be crucial.”
India enter the World Cup as defending champions, with Gambhir aiming to blend belief, discipline and balance as the campaign approaches.
