Green Back in Nets But KKR’s Cameron Problem Is Far From Over

Cameron Green is bowling again. Sort of.

The KKR all-rounder was spotted in the nets ahead of the SRH clash, running in and rattling stumps — a visible signal that the lower back injury which kept him from bowling against Mumbai Indians is easing. Cricket Australia had confirmed he needed to “abstain from bowling for a short period” and would be reassessed in 10 to 12 days.

But the story is messier than that. In the MI game, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane was asked why Green didn’t bowl. His reply was blunt: “That question you need to ask Cricket Australia.”

It was a loaded answer. Green was bought for ₹25.20 crore — a record. Not having him bowl is a serious imbalance. CA clarified he had been “communicating fully” with KKR and the situation was managed. Rahane’s public deflection suggested the club felt otherwise.

Green back in the nets helps. But KKR’s bowling unit is already stretched — Harshit Rana and Akash Deep are both out injured, and Matheesha Pathirana is still awaiting Sri Lanka Cricket clearance. Against SRH at Eden Gardens, they need their ₹25 crore man with the ball.
