ICC aids West Indies, Zimbabwe travel plans

The International Cricket Council has stepped in to assist West Indies and Zimbabwe with revised return travel arrangements from the T20 World Cup amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, ensuring players and staff can depart safely.

With air routes disrupted due to regional tensions, both teams faced uncertainty over their journey home after their campaign. The ICC coordinated with governments and airlines to secure alternative flights and transit options. “Player safety is our top priority,” an ICC spokesperson said. “We are working closely with all relevant authorities to facilitate their return.”

A West Indies official noted, “The situation was fluid, but the ICC’s support helped streamline the process.” Zimbabwe Cricket also confirmed discussions were ongoing to finalise safe travel corridors.

The move comes as several international flights in the region have been delayed or rerouted, prompting cricket’s governing body to activate contingency plans.
