India coach shrugs off catching woes before Super 8

India head coach Rahul Dravid played down concerns over his side’s sloppy catching ahead of the T20 World Cup Super 8 stage on February 19, 2026, insisting the issue will not derail their campaign. Speaking after the group phase, Dravid backed his players despite a string of dropped chances in recent matches.

India have put down multiple catches in the tournament, raising questions over fielding standards at a crucial stage. However, Dravid remained calm. “These things happen in a long tournament,” he said. “The intent and effort are there, and that’s what matters.”

A senior player echoed the sentiment, adding, “We know we can be sharper, and we’re working hard in training.”

With tougher opponents awaiting in the Super 8, India will look to tighten up in the field while maintaining their strong form with bat and ball.
