India coach shrugs off dropped catches before Super 8
India’s head coach played down concerns over the team’s poor catching record ahead of the T20 World Cup Super 8 stage, insisting on Thursday that fielding lapses will not derail their campaign. The remarks came as India prepare for a crucial phase of the tournament after spilling multiple chances in the group matches.
India have dropped several catches so far, putting added pressure on their bowlers despite remaining unbeaten. However, the coach dismissed talk of a crisis. “We are not worried. These things happen in T20 cricket,” he said at the pre-match press conference. “The attitude in the field has been outstanding.”
Captain Rohit Sharma echoed the sentiment, stating, “We’ve addressed it. The energy is there, and that’s what matters in big games.” A team analyst added that India still rank among the top sides in overall fielding efficiency despite the missed chances.
