Indorama Open starts with record $300K prize fund

The Indorama Ventures Open Golf Championship began on March 12 in Ahmedabad with a record $300,000 purse, marking one of the richest events on the Indian tour and attracting leading domestic players.
The 143-man field is competing in a four-day stroke-play format at Kalhaar Blues & Greens, with the cut set after two rounds. Top contenders include Order of Merit winner Yuvraj Sandhu and Veer Ahlawat, underlining the tournament’s rising level.
“We are proud to elevate sportsmanship in India,” said Indorama CEO Aloke Lohia. PGTI president Kapil Dev added the event “creates valuable opportunities,” while tour CEO Amandeep Johl noted the increased prize fund reflects its growing status.
