Milne ruled out of T20 World Cup, Jamieson drafted in

New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup after suffering an injury setback, with Kyle Jamieson named as his replacement, the team confirmed this week. The 31-year-old was forced to withdraw after failing to recover in time, dealing a blow to the Black Caps’ pace attack ahead of the global tournament.
Milne picked up the injury shortly before the World Cup and medical staff advised against rushing his return. “Adam hasn’t come up as hoped, and it’s disappointing to lose him at this stage,” head coach Gary Stead said. “Player welfare has to come first.”
Jamieson, who last played international cricket in 2023, returns after recovering from a long-term back injury. “Kyle has worked extremely hard to get back,” Stead added. “His bounce and experience give us a strong option.”
Milne’s absence removes a bowler who has taken 54 wickets in 53 T20Is, while Jamieson will look to make an immediate impact as New Zealand fine-tune preparations for the World Cup.
